Phlox paniculata 'Jeana'

Phlox 'Jeana'
Garden Phlox

  • »  This new and very natural cultivar is actually a "wild form" discovered at the Harpeth River near Nashville, Tennessee and named after its discoverer, Jeana Prewitt. Although there were many types of Phlox paniculata in the area, ‘Jeana’ stood out for its exceptionally mildew-free foliage. Lovely tall perennial (up to 5 feet) with tiny cute pink flowers (each is only about 1/2 an inch across) and a very long blooming period. It provides excellent wildlife support because it hasn't been subjected to any man-made hybridization; it's a great pollinator magnet for bees, native bees, and all kinds of butterflies including monarchs. Because of its origin, it grows best in common soil and can flop in too-rich and fertilized soil (may require staking). The flowers are mostly sterile, so it doesn't require deadheading. 2024 Perennial Plant of the Year
